China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) has selected Ericsson and ZTE to build the seamless converged FDD LTE and TD-LTE  network in Hong Kong. The two companies have equally share in the form of 50 percent respectively on the network construction project. CMHK is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile Limited.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will deliver the TD-LTE radio access network, network management using Ericsson OSS-RC, Evolved Packet Core network expansion and upgrade, consulting and systems integration services as well related design, training and support services.

As part of the contract, ZTE will provide LTE-TDD solutions to CMHK, including SDR BTS, terminals, network planning, integration and network optimization. The jointly constructed network will be Hong Kong’s central network, covering Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.

CMHK won the bid for the 2300 MHz TDD band in February and launched the 4G services riding on the FDD LTE network in April this year. In addition, the company announced earlier that plans to launch the converged FDD LTE and TD-LTE network 4G services in Hong Kong by end of this year.
