CSL to Deploy LTE Advanced at 300 Mbps in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's CSL Limited is now set to deploy LTE Advanced at 300 Mbps, operator announced today. In the demonstration of this technology, 1O1O and one2free showcased theoretical peak download speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
Operator aggregated its existing licensed 20 MHz LTE carrier at 2600 MHz with another licensed 20 MHz LTE carrier at 1800 MHz, to achieve a maximum theoretical speed of 300 Mbps.
CSL plans to test LTE Advanced extensively tested in its labs over the coming months and deploy on the commercial network once ready. It is expected that new devices supporting LTEA300 will be available later in 2014.
ZTE's carrier aggregation (CA) technology was deployed by CSL in this demonstration.
Operators in the Asia Pacific region including SK Telecom have started deploying CA technology to offer trial and commercial networks. By combining a pair of 10MHz spectrum in the 800MHz and 1800MHz bands, SK Telecom’s network is capable of supporting peak transmission rates of 150Mbps.
