German spectrum auction volume reaches €2.41bn
April 30, 2010 - Germany's mobile spectrum auction gained EUR2.41 billion by the end of day 14.
According to German network regulator Bundesnetzagentur and analysts, proceeds from the entire auction could reach up to EUR8 billion. Total bids are still far away from it.
Auction isn't open to all mobile operators. Germany's federal network regular admitted only Vodafone, T-Mobile, E-Plus, and O2 to the bidding.
According to TotalTelecom, In round 110, Deutsche Telekom AG offered between EUR336.3 million and EUR373 million each for two 10 MHz blocks in the 800 MHz band and Vodafone PLC offered EUR346.9 million for another 10 MHz block in the band.
The four operators are bidding in frequency auctions in the ranges 800 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2 GHz and 2.6 GHz. The regulator is offering a total of 41 frequency blocks across the four frequency bands, which are expected to be used for LTE network deployments.
