HiBeam Internet & Voice has selected Huawei to provide its Radio Access Network to support their services in select markets in the Midwest and Southeast. Huawei will provide the radio equipment on HiBeam's towers establishing HiBeam's radio infrastructure.

“HiBeam is poised to make a real difference in less urban areas of the country where finding affordable broadband can be very difficult. We are very excited to be working with HiBeam. Their technical team has the expertise necessary to deploy reliable and cost-effective WiMAX services to their customers. Working together, Huawei and HiBeam will offer mobile data speeds comparable to the fixed-line broadband speeds available today," said Peter Rossi, Chief Technical Officer of Huawei. "In fact, download speeds average 3 to 6 mbps with bursts over 10 mbps. Further, the deployment of this technology allows HiBeam to build a future proof network with a defined path to potentially deploy Long Term Evolution (LTE) in its network."

"We evaluated a number of radio providers and Huawei clearly set the standard for this technology. We are proud to be partnering with Huawei to rapidly grow our customer base," said Keith Coker, Chief Technology Officer of HiBeam. "Best in class technology is a high priority at HiBeam. We understand that our network and our technology offering are absolutely essential to providing WiMAX services to underserved markets in the US."

Worldwide, Huawei has deployed over 60 LTE commercial and trial networks. Huawei is one of the few vendors in the industry that has completed an interoperability test between the LTE commercial network and the LTE commercial terminal.
