Mobitel Slovenia testing LTE in the 1800MHz Band
Slovenian mobile operator Mobitel has been making its technology investments for the last couple of years and plans to implement the LTE and LTE Advanced technologies. Just a few days after acquiring additional test frequencies, Mobitel deployed an LTE network in the 1800MHz frequency band on the 20MHz frequency bandwidth, and tested it live. As per operator, the first results are excellent and promise a state-of-the-art user experience.
Mobitel plans a full deployment of LTE and LTE Advanced in Slovenia using the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands.
Just a few days after acquiring test frequencies Mobitel began testing LTE. The LTE network was first deployed in the southeastern part of Ljubljana, and is intended for internal tests of this latest technology, with the goal of gradual expansion, ensuring an optimum side-by-side operation with the GSM and UMTS systems. This paves the way for commercializing LTE technology in Slovenia.
Alongside this project Mobitel is still expanding and upgrading the HSPA network. It provides transfer speeds of up to 21.6Mbps, which will further increase in the future, as Mobitel is already in the final phases of testing the dual carrier HSPA solution, which provides speeds of up to 43Mbps, using the latest data modems that Mobitel has already included in its range.
