Ooredoo Selects Nokia Siemens Networks for LTE Launch in Qatar
Ooredoo has picked Nokia Siemens Networks to provide complete LTE radio and core network. Operator recently launched 4G LTE mobile broadband services in the country.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks has provided its Single RAN based Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform, including Flexi NS (network server), Flexi NG (network gateway), and Liquid Core based SGSN (serving GPRS support node).
Operator has also enabled Nokia Siemens Networks’ CSFB based voice solution Circuit Switched Fall Back (CSFB) to make voice calls using either the operator’s GSM or 3G networks. Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) is planned to be introduced later.
