Poland's LTE tender by end of 2010
Polish telecom regulator Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), intends to launch a tender for LTE radio spectrums this year.
"I think that the real deadline for a tender to the fourth quarter of this year, but its outcome, would be already in 2011" says Anna Streżyńska, President of UKE, according to a http://www.rp.pl article.
I think that the auction will issue two - three parcels ranges, and each will contain both the 2.6 GHz frequency and lower - Streżyńska said
According to rports, UKE wants to auction both 2.6 GHz and lower the frequency ranges: 790-862 MHz together. However 790-862 MHz is currently controlled by the military.
Earlier this month Polish mobile service providers PTK Centertel (the operator of Orange network) and P4 (network operator, Play) had announced a plan to create a joint venture for the upcoming LTE spectrum rights in 2.6 GHz frequency band.
LTE deployment in Poland is expected to be 2-3 years after the tender, based on that first commercial LTE services are not expected earlier than in 2013
