Sprint Opens LTE Network in Bronx and Brooklyn
U.S. carrier Sprint has announced that its new 4G LTE network and improved 3G service will be available in two New York boroughs Bronx and Brooklyn beginning on July 30. According to operator, it continues to make progress on new 3G and 4G LTE network and it's customers in the Bronx and Brooklyn will find 4G LTE and enhanced 3G wireless service in even more places around their boroughs and beyond.
Transit Wireless and Sprint recently announced that the companies have finalized their contract to bring Sprint’s wireless voice and data service in the New York subway system. Sprint has signed on to the full scope of the project – all 277 underground subway stations. Wireless customers of Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile can expect to begin receiving coverage underground in 36 stations in midtown Manhattan and Chelsea in early 2014.
Sprint expects to provide 200 million people with LTE by the end of 2013. Sprint currently offers LTE service in 110 markets, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami and Puerto Rico.
