April 16, 2010 - Vodafone Portugal wants to implement LTE by the end of 2011, the company announced during a demonstration of the new technology in Porto. According to the head of technology at Vodafone Portugal, Jorge Capelas Fernandes.
However, Fernandes said the deployment of LTE depends on the national communications authority Anacom releasing more radio spectrum.
According to TeleGeography's 4G research services, ANACOM launched a public consultation on rights of use of frequencies in the 2.6GHz band, suitable for LTE, in December 2008.
