April 14, 2010 - Many vendors and operators are very happy with Fixed WiMAX (News - Alert) solutions and are no longer actively participating in standards.

However, the standards are moving along as the WiMAX mobile operators look to compete head on with the 3G/LTE crowd to offer the updated 802.16m standards, nicknamed WiMAX 2.0.

To review in the standards world WiFi is the granddaddy that continues to evolve, WiMAX is the middle child and LTE is the baby (“gotta love the baby”).
