April 27, 2010 - Azimuth Systems Inc today announced that ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has chosen the ACE™ MX Universal MIMO channel emulator to support its WiMAX testing needs. ZTE will use the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator primarily for 4x4 bi-directional testing and beamforming testing of WiMAX networks. In addition, the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator will be used to support testing of ZTE’s CDMA products. Superior RF performance, rapid setup and configuration, and scalability and flexibility were important factors in ZTE’s decision to purchase the ACE MX wireless channel emulator.

“With proper testing, benchmarks can be accurately made and network capacity can be planned without the need for extensive field trials, which can be extremely costly,” said Mr. Jigao Liang, director of the WiMAX & CDMA Testing Department of ZTE. “We found that the ACE MX wireless channel emulator offered the accuracy and rapid calibration required to meet our testing needs, while providing RF fidelity and ease-of-use that was superior to that of competing products.”

A purpose-built, enhanced testing solution, the ACE MX wireless channel emulator is architected to meet the demanding needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems. The ACE MX MIMO channel emulator provides the advanced channel emulation features required for testing WiMAX, LTE and other advanced wireless infrastructure equipment and devices, and includes all of the backwards-compatible channel emulation features to test 2G/3G cellular products. The ACE MX wireless channel emulator also features dedicated bi-directional channel modeling that can accurately emulate real world wireless over-the-air conditions in both the downlink and uplink paths simultaneously, which is a requirement to test beamforming.

“We are extremely pleased that ZTE has selected Azimuth’s ACE MX wireless channel emulator for its comprehensive testing needs, as the company plays an important role in the international wireless community,” said Pete Paglia, vice president of sales and business development at Azimuth Systems. “Azimuth is increasingly being recognized as a leader for testing wireless broadband technologies such as WiMAX and LTE, and we are proud to offer wireless channel emulation products which are the key to reliable conformance, performance and interoperability testing.”

ZTE is an active member of more than 70 international standardization organizations and forums and has undertaken technological research alliance projects with 50 academic institutions throughout China. The company has also established strategic cooperation agreements and joint laboratory partnerships with many of the world’s leading companies.
