ZTE has signed a contract with Slovak operator SWAN for a nationwide LTE network project. As part of the agreement, ZTE will construct core CS/PS (circuit-switched/packet-switched) network, and a GSM/LTE mobile communications and VAS (value added services) network, involving over 1,100 dual-mode GSM/LTE base stations to SWAN.

SWAN was granted the fourth wireless operator license in Slovakia in January 2014, and plans to build more than 1,100 GSM and LTE base stations within three years.

ZTE will be using its SDR (software-defined radio) solutions to provide seamless dual-mode GSM/LTE communications across the country. To manage mobile communications across SWAN's spectrum structure, ZTE will use full-bandwidth, high-power RRUs (remote radio units) to avoid spectrum fragmentation and to deliver high bandwidth and LTE frequency adjustment.
