  • Japan's SoftBank Mobile has selected Ericsson to provide and integrate its end-to-end network solution for voice over LTE (VoLTE). With VoLTE as a basis, consumers will get HD voice and video calling alongside other telephony services, while using simultaneous LTE data services on LTE smartphones.

  • Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Sprint for its new ultra-broadband TDD-LTE mobile access network, making use of newly-acquired 2.5GHz spectrum in the U.S. Sprint’s selection of Alcatel-Lucent follows the announcement last month of China Mobile choosing Alcatel-Lucent’s TDD LTE solution.

  • Nokia Solutions and Networks has signed a new contract with Sprint for the deployment of TDD LTE across its 2.5 GHz spectrum, which will increase its high-speed data capacity as part of Sprint’s large-scale U.S. roll-out. 

  • Brazil’s operator Oi Brasil has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks to supply the infrastructure for its LTE network. In addition to that, NSN will also upgrade the operator’s GSM and 3G networks across the country.

  • U.S. carrier Sprint has turned on 4G LTE service in 45 more markets today. The new 4G LTE service is also now available in parts of Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, N.Y. Earlier this year, Sprint launched its all-new network in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

  • Canada's TELUS has launched LTE services in Orillia, Ontario and Labrador City, Newfoundland. With this expansion, operator's LTE service now covers almost 80 per cent of the Canadian population across approximately 200 markets.
