Nokia and Zain Saudi Arabia are deploying Nokia's FastMile technology to provide better broadband speeds to Zain's customers. The deployment, the first for Nokia FastMile in the Middle East and Africa region, follows a successful trial of the technology which recorded speeds of 20 Mbps

Orange Business Services has accelerated its LTE-M strategy to support the development of internet of things (IoT) solutions for the enterprise market. This follows the announcement by Orange in February 2017 that the Group would be prioritizing LTE-M across its footprint in Europe, and today it announces significant progress.

Aviation communications provider SmartSky Networks has started deployment of the airborne 4G LTE-based air-to-ground (ATG) network. Using 60 MHz of spectrum and beamforming technology, SmartSky’s network plans to provide more than 10 times the typical speed and capacity of the current industry standard ATG network, and at a lower cost per bit.

USA carrier T-Mobile has completed live field testing of mobile broadband data session using License Assisted Access (LAA) on its commercial network. The field testing, which began in Los Angeles yesterday, showed 741 Mbps download speeds using 80 MHz of aggregated spectrum, according to the operator.

AT&T has announced 5G Evolution plans to pave the way to the next generation of faster speeds for its wireless customers with the latest devices in over 20 major metro areas by the end of this year. Operator plans to continue to lay the foundation for evolution to 5G while the 5G standards are being finalized.

Armenia’s VivaCell-MTS continues expanding its 4G network in Armenia that was deployed six years ago, in 2010. Upon the completion of the planned works, 4G services will become available to 52.5% of the population.

Nokia and Singapore's StarHub have successfully tripled peak upload speed to 150Mbps over the operator's 4G network, in a trial using carrier aggregation technology and the 64 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) technique.

Ericsson has been selected by MTN Ghana for the deployment of a new LTE network in the Greater Accra region. The deployment will enable MTN to offer its 16 million subscribers mobile broadband experiences based on HSPA and LTE technologies.

Verizon, this week announced the availability of the world's first Cat1 LTE network features for IoT, along with new tools for itsThingSpace IoT applications platform that enable developers "to quickly and easily connect their devices to the Internet."
