Ericsson and China Mobile has successfully demonstrated a dual mode HD voice over LTE (VoLTE) call between TD-LTE and LTE FDD based on ST-Ericsson's multimode modem and Renesas Mobile' quad-mode chipsets during the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

Under the theme of “Perfect 5G,” SK Telecom plans to lay out the company’s 5G technologies and announce the soon-to-be arriving 5G era.

China Mobile has fully tested and certified Ericsson's M7450 5-mode modem chipset for use in China Mobile's network. Ericsson's M7450 covers five access technologies: TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA and GSM.  The LTE Advanced multimode modem targets smartphones, tablets and other connected devices.

ZTE has announced that company's VoLTE Solution is supporting CSL's commercial launch of voice over LTE services in Hong Kong for voice and video calls. Almost 100,000 users are using the VoLTE service since it was launched by CSL in late August.

Australian carrier Telstra has switched on 5G technology across selected areas of the Gold Coast. The operator plans to launch more than 200 5G-capable sites around the country by the end of 2018.

Saudi Arabian telcos Mobily and STC have launched LTE services in the country.

Ericsson has announced that Australia's Telstra has used the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Carrier Aggregation technology on 1800MHz and 900MHz spectrum bands on a commercial network.
