EE to Open LTE Network on 30 October
EE will start offering the LTE services on the 30th October 2012 in UK. EE’s 4G services will be available on a number of exciting handsets including the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE, Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 820, HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE.
Along with LTE introduction, EE will also launch a fibre broadband service to homes and businesses with fixed-line internet speeds typically ten times faster than average broadband speeds.
EE will launch LTE in ten cities on the 30th October, and will cover 16 cities – a third of the UK population – by the end of the year. Further towns, cities and rural areas, will follow rapidly with coverage to reach 98% by 2014, announced the company.
“This is a significant milestone for the United Kingdom, and for the people and businesses of our country who will now be able to enjoy the huge advantages of superfast 4G technology for the first time,” said Olaf Swantee, CEO, EE.
EE’s 2012 launch schedule will see 16 areas of the country connected to 4G by Christmas – the UK’s four capitals and twelve further major cities. The 16 cities are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Southampton.
Last month, Everything Everywhere announced the launch of EE, a new name of the Everything Everywhere business and its network in UK.
