New spectrum auction of 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies in Denmark
Denmark’s National IT and Telecom Agency (Telestyrelsen) has anounced the dates for holding the auction of spectrum in 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands. The auctions will be held online on 20 and 25 October 2010.
According to Telestyrelsen, frequencies of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency band is suitable for 2G (GSM telephony), 3G technologies and LTE (4G) and frequency Permits may be used for mobile broadband, which is booming.
Operators TDC, Telenor and Telia, that already have permits in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands, are excluded from participation in the auctions.
Telestyrelsen plans to offer one nationwide license for 2 x 5 MHz in 900 MHz frequency band and one nationwide license of 2 x 10 MHz in 1800 MHz frequency band.
Minimums bid prices for auction are DKK 8 million for 900 MHz license and DKK 4 million for 1800 MHz license. Registration for the auctions can be submitted to the National IT and Telecom Agency by 29 September 2010.
