TeliaSonera launches commercial LTE in Denmark
TeliaSonera has launched the first commercial LTE services in Denmark to customers in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg. The rollout of the Danish 4G network continues and TeliaSonera expects to cover 75 per cent of the Danish population in 2011.
"We are proud to be the first operator in Denmark to offer our customers 4G. We launch 4G in the largest Danish cities, where there is a high demand for fast mobile broadband services. We have an aggressive rollout plan for 4G and expect to cover 75 per cent of the population during 2011,” says Jesper Brøckner Nielsen, Head of TeliaSonera Mobility Services in Denmark.
The LTE radio network in Denmark is in this rollout phase supplied by Nokia Siemens Networks. Ericsson supplies TeliaSonera’s LTE core network in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The LTE modems are supplied by Samsung. It is a USB dongle supporting 4G/3G/2G PC/Mac
TeliaSonera was the first operator in the world to launch 4G commercially in Stockholm and Oslo in December 2009. LTE was launched 30 November 2010 in Finland.
