South Korea's SK Telecom has started expanding installation of base stations to use 10MHz bandwidth from 2.1GHz band for LTE from May 7 in certain areas in Seoul, Gwangju and Busan. The company already built an LTE test-bed for 2.1GHz band in Busan last February.

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has announced the launch of a new LTE program to deliver 4G network in Qatar.

SK Telecom's revenue rose by 5.9% year-on-year (YoY) and 1.4% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) backed by increase of the LTE/LTE-Advanced subscribers, company reported today.

UK operators Vodafone and O2 have launched their commercial LTE services in country today. Vodafone's LTE network is currently available in London where as O2's LTE network is available in London, Leeds and Bradford. 

TeliaSonera had won a 4G license in Denmark lastweek and will launch 4G services to Danish customers during the spring 2011.

Ericsson, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and SK Telecom plan to conduct interoperability testing and over-the-air field trials based on 5G New Radio (NR) standards being developed based on specifications in 3GPP.

Telefonica Germany plans to kick off its new generation of mobile Internet with LTE mobile on 3rd July. O2 LTE will initially be available in the high-speed areas Nuremberg and Dresden, closely followed by Munich and Leipzig.
