Ericsson and Qualcomm have successfully completed the inter-vendor interoperability testing of LTE Category 6, based on commercial LTE chipsets and infrastructure supporting Telstra's carrier aggregation bands. 

Telecom services provider Omantel has announced the launch of the second phase of its 4G LTE network in Oman. Operator has extended coverage to new areas in different parts of the Oman. The build-out of these new sites followed immediately the TRA approval to allocate the 1.8 GHz spectrum for 4G LTE use.

China Mobile plans to team up with foreign carriers to establish a TD-LTE trial network overseas in the next six months, reports China Daily.

Since announcing its’ $4 billion 4G network evolution plan, T-Mobile has made substantial progress, operator has reported. T-Mobile LTE trials are underway and this summer it plans to begin using Release-10 equipment in these trials.

Nokia Solutions and Networks has announced introduction of new Flexi Zone LTE microcell and picocell base stations with the same features and capacity as macro base stations. The new base stations run the same software as NSN’s macro base stations.

Thailand’s mobile operator DTAC has chosen Alcatel-Lucent Agile Optical Networking to upgrade its existing 3G network and lay the foundation for a 4G LTE network that will eventually deliver 4G mobile access to more than 40 percent of the Thai population.
