Verizon Wireless is aiming to complete its 4G LTE network rollout by mid-2013, announced Fran Shammo, Verizon's EVP & CFO, at Wells Fargo Technology Media & Telecom Conference last week. Verizon Wireless had earlier said that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it's current 3G coverage map.

The European Commission announced addition of 120 MHz to the radio spectrum portfolio for LTE technology, around the 2 GHz band. Currently this band is used for 3G UMTS networks. It is mandatory for EU Member States to open the relevant spectrum by 30 June 2014 at the latest.

MetroPCS Communications has announced commercial launch of Rich Communication Services (RCS) on its 4G LTE network. MetroPCS will offer its RCS services under the GSMA-licensed joyn brand. RCS services is initially available on the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G via joyn application.
U.S. Cellular is launching a 4G LTE network in over 30 new markets on Monday, November 5th. Optus has switched on its first 4G LTE sites for customers in Gold Coast and in the Brisbane CBD. UK’s communications company, EE has launched commercial LTE services in 11 cities. EE runs the Orange and T-Mobile brands in the UK. In its first phase, the 4G service is going live in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton.
Alcatel-Lucent has announced that company will provide Telesis Tanzania with its comprehensive 4G LTE mobile broadband solution. Established in 2011, Telesis operates as a Mobile Virtual Network Aggregator (MVNA), supporting services for a number of Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) which serve their customers using Telesis’ infrastructure.
GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) has confirmed that 51 mobile networks in 38 countries have launched HD voice services. 127 phones supporting HD Voice (W-AMR) have been announced so far by 14 manufacturers, report adds. Most of these devices operate on 3G/HSPA networks, with some working on GSM networks and some on LTE networks (VoLTE).
