Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is currently experimenting with LTE technology and planning to build a long term evolution (LTE) network in 2011.
Company estimates that the number of mobile broadband subscribers in Taiwan are expected to grow from 2.77 million in 2008 to 19.94 million in 2014, making mobile broadband service a major growth driver for telecom companies on the island.

Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories and Nokia Siemens Networks are conducting a live FDD-LTE trial in Taiwan. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide a technology pilot platform enabling Chunghwa Telecom to evaluate the natural evolution path for WCDMA.
