Verizon Wireless launched 4G LTE network in the United States in Dec 2010 in 38 major metropolitan areas. Verizon Wireless plans to continue launching 4G LTE markets till 2013 aggressively and will cover two-thirds of the U.S. population in the by mid 2012. By the end of 2013 Verizon offer 4G LTE network from coast to coast – everywhere that it offer 3G in 2010. Operator plans to add more than 140 markets in 2011.
Verizon Wireless has been testing and preparing its forthcoming 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in both Boston and Seattle since August 2009.
Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network field trials in the United States have demonstrated wireless data speeds that are significantly faster than today’s 3G network speeds. Trials in Boston and Seattle indicate the network is capable of average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink, offering Verizon Wireless customers mobile browsing speeds comparable to their current, typical online Internet experience.
